Recycling is our future, which is why we’ve partnered with Grist!

With the world changing all around us – and climate change at the forefront of people’s minds now more than ever – it’s extremely important that we all focus on our environmental impact. That is exactly what we are doing here at Checkmate Flexible Engineering. Not only are we looking at ways we can support innovations in alternative materials within the industry, but we’re tackling it close to home, too.

This is why we’ve partnered with Swindon’s own Grist Recycling, to minimise our impact on the planet and introduce initiatives that make a difference.

Introducing Grist

Through a partnership with local waste disposal experts Grist Environmental, we are now working towards a carbon-neutral approach to the waste we produce.

Grist is a waste management business based in Swindon, operating since 1972. A family run business, Grist is dedicated to caring for the environment through investments in new technologies and policies; policies just like their ‘Zero to Landfill’ policy which applies to all waste and recyclable materials they collect.

We know how even the smallest change can make a huge impact, so we’re really pleased with this new development.

Why Grist?

Not only are they a local business – meaning putting money back into the local economy – but with a ‘zero to landfill’ policy on all the waste and recyclable materials they collect, it means that all of the waste at their Material Recovery Facility (MRF) site in Devizes is segregated and processed, so that the maximum amount of material possible is recycled and recovered.

At Checkmate, we’re dedicated to minimising our environmental impact through a number of different initiatives; from recycling partnerships, the use of solar energy to power our autoclave and the use of alternative materials that are better for the planet.
