Checkmate’s Founder, Paul Auston, Has Been Appointed A Deputy Lieutenant of Kent
CHECKMATE IS PROUD to announce that founder Paul Auston has been honoured for his positive contribution to the County and Nation. Mr Auston who has been appointed Deputy Lieutenant of Kent commented:
‘I feel truly privileged to be appointed as one of the five new deputy lieutenants in Kent.’
Paul has served as Trustee and Chairman of Demelza House, a children’s hospice based in Kent, Sussex and South East London for six years. On retiring he was elected honorary Vice President and he continues to support the work of the charity. He is a trustee of The Royal Navy and Royal Marines Children’s Fund based in Portsmouth and is actively involved in raising funds and awareness in the wider community of the needs of families and children, “The forgotten casualties of conflict”. He also serves on the development group raising funds for the restoration of Canterbury Cathedral.
