Checkmate fast patrol boat skirts displayed at DSEI
We were very excited to be invited along to the Defence And Security Equipment International (DSEI) exhibition in London – not only is this Europe’s largest military equipment exhibition, it’s a fantastic opportunity to connect with other players within this industry.
Braving stormy seas
Checkmate Flexible Engineering’s managing partner Tom Roach is pictured with His Majesty’s Norwegian Ship ‘Storm’ – one of the new series of Skjold Class fast patrol boats that Checkmate has designed and manufactured skirts for. The new skirts help to improve the performance of these vessels, ensuring their longevity and efficiency.
The Skjold Class fast patrol boats are very high performance craft, capable of speeds up to 60 knots. The rubber parts alone weigh about two tonnes. The skirts have been designed and built by Checkmate at our facility in Melksham.
Checkmate is the world’s most experienced hovercraft skirt maker and is proud to have made parts for most of the western world’s hovercraft and surface effect ships (sidewall hovercraft). It is a testament to the incredible work of our design team – and the decades of engineering experience that makes these achievements possible.
