Inflatable intake covers
About
Flexible jet intake covers
Checkmate Flexible Engineering’s jet intake covers – also known as intake blanks – have been developed to provide aircraft engines with lightweight protection from damage caused by foreign objects and the elements. We supply inflatable intake covers to a number of NATO air forces, and all of our products are NATO codified.

Case Study
Submarine Gaiters
Checkmate developed effective, low-cost tooling and our very own test rig to dramatically reduce costs in mission-critical scenarios across Spain, Germany, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea.

Case Study
Beach Recovery Vehicles
The Royal Marines’ BRV can be damaged if water enters above maximum wading depth. Checkmate designed and built flexible intake and out-take covers which can be quickly closed to protect the vehicle.

Case Study
Subsea Habitat Seal Development
Checkmate Flexible Engineering was approached to re-design seals for subsea habitats used on gas and oil pipelines.

RELIABLE SOLUTIONS
Supplying the Ministry of Defence
Combining a lightweight design with the ability to be deflated and collapsed quickly for easy stowage, our intake covers have been chosen for the EH101 Merlin Helicopter.
The non-metallic, light materials used for construction means that damage is minimised if the covers are ingested or blown across the deck or airfield into other aircraft or personnel.
